Happy 2018, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful New Year’s Eve! I had a great time celebrating with my friends in Oregon.
I was recently reflecting on this last year and thinking of what I would like to do differently in this upcoming year. One word clearly stood out to me:
GRATITUDE.
Truthfully, this last year has been a difficult one for me. With moving across the country, settling into a new job and trying to find new friends, I’ve experienced a good amount of homesickness, discouragement, and self-pity at times. Thankfully I have an amazing husband who is so supportive and encourages me to see the silver lining in things. When situations change I tend to get really focused on the negative, and I realized that I need to figure out a way to focus on the positive. God has blessed me in so many ways and I have so much to be grateful for. I need to be reflecting on those things rather than things I can’t change.
In order to practice this, I decided to do two things. One, I’m keeping a daily gratitude journal, in which I write down three things I’m grateful for. They can be as silly as a joke made at the office or sweet things like my husband making dinner for me. I’ve already done this for a few weeks and I’m really enjoying ending the day on a positive note, no matter what happened.
Second, I’m going to start doing #ThankfulThursday on my instagram account to share what I’m thankful for! I’ll be posting weekly and it will ONLY be on my instagram, so be sure to follow me @shortandsweet_blog.
Whatever your New Year’s resolution is, I hope that you can incorporate a little more gratitude with me in 2018. I’d love to hear what you’re thankful for!
There will be lots of posts coming up the next few weeks, so make sure to subscribe to avoid FOMO!
I’m thankful you and Matt were able to come home to Oregon for Christmas. It was great being with you guys!!
