Hey friends! Hope you are having a great 2019 so far! Matt and I just did our latest Date Night In box, which was Winter Wonderland themed, and it was so much fun! If one of your goals this year is to be more intentional with your significant other, these date night boxes are a great idea and super affordable. If you want to see more, make sure to follow my instagram because I do an unboxing video before every date (and my cute dog made an appearance for this last one)!
Note: I receive a free box in exchange for my honest opinion. This post also contains affiliate links. If you buy something through those links, you will not pay any more, but I will get a small commission!
Dinner
For this date night, my sweet husband got the groceries for dinner so I had no idea what we were making, but as always Marina put together a great menu! The side was some parmesan garlic crostini that were super easy to make, and the main dish was pancetta and sweet pea gnocchi, which was amazing! Although we were a bit skeptical of the pasta at first, it ended up tasting amazing with the cheesy sauce and peas. We had to use the poor man’s pancetta (aka bacon) and it still tasted great. And there was some leftover, so we got to eat it twice!
Discussion
Of course, date night boxes always come with something to set the mood, and this box came with some scented wax beads that (no joke) had the scent: Ski resort. It made me chuckle. It was a nice piny smell, and set the scene well for a wintery date! While the discussion questions centered around the holidays, we still enjoyed talking about the importance of being present and rolling with the punches, rather than getting frustrated when things turn out differently than we planned. We enjoyed reflecting on unexpected circumstances and laughing at fun memories from the last year. Our faith discussion guide talked about the wise men, characters often overlooked in the story of Jesus’ birth, but ones who provide an example of relying on God’s guidance. I appreciate both discussion guides to give us something to talk about during dinner!
Activities
Our first activity was making pretzel Christmas trees, which turned out super cute! In fact, I think I might make them for Christmas parties next year.
Our next activity was a nail and string craft project, which was a fun project even though my husband kept trying to correct how I was hammering the nails in π We made a cute little snowflake that we can use for our Christmas decor!
Next we played a winter wonderland-themed headband card game. You know we love our games but DANG this one was hard! We went back and forth asking yes or no questions to try to figure out what was on our heads, and I had words like pinecone and nutcracker that I could not for the life of me figure out. Even though we had extremely confused faces most of the time, it was a really fun game and definitely made us laugh.
Last but not least, we were encouraged to write a little note to each other on some notecards they provided, which I love since words are my love language π
I love date night in boxes because they help us have intentional conversation, cook a great dinner together, laugh, and have fun together in our own home! I hope you enjoyed my winter wonderland date night box review, keep your eyes out for another one soon!
