Aug. ’20 Friday Favorites

Hey friends! I’m back with a real Friday Favorites post! If you don’t follow me on Instagram, I posted a few of my favorites from July since I didn’t get a chance to put a blog together. And make sure you’re following me because I’m doing a fun giveaway through this Sunday! In today’s Friday Favorites post, I have 2 book recs, 2 beauty products, and the best ice cream cake recipe. Enjoy!

1. L’Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Deep Nourishing Treatment Serum

For some reason, I STILL get surprised at the insane level of humidity during summer in Virginia. I’m not prepared for it, and neither is my hair. This year I decided to do some research and see if there are any products that could help my hair calm down. And you guys, I found a winner. This L’Oreal deep nourishing serum is SO good! All you need is two small pumps of oil on wet or dry hair, and your hair will become so soft. I was initially pretty skeptical becuase I think usually products like these just make your hair smell good but don’t make a difference. But I noticed a difference in just two days! I love this product so much, I’m including it in my Instagram giveaway so you can try it for yourself!

2. Oreo Ice Cream Cake

Since Matt’s birthday was a few weeks ago, I decided to make a cake with his favorite ice cream – cookies and cream! The cake is really easy to make but so delicious! All you need is a package of Oreos, butter, 2 cartons of cookies and cream ice cream, hot fudge, and cool whip. It doesn’t take long to make at all but will make enough for a party! Or just, ya know, to eat for fun.

3. The Silent Patient

This was my latest book club read and I think it is one of my favorite ones! It’s not very scary, but it definitely had some GREAT twists. Here’s what one review on Amazon said:

“Alicia Berenson is one-half of a glamorous couple—she’s an artist married to her fashion photographer husband, Gabriel. But when Gabriel returns home late one night, she shoots him five times in the face and refuses to speak again. Now she is being held in an institution outside London called the Grove. When a psychotherapist named Theo Faber becomes obsessed with her case, he finds his way to the Grove to treat her. Dark twists and delightful turns follow, secrets (and a diary) are revealed, and you will likely find yourself racing to the end.”

4. Milani Highly Rated Mascara

My mom sent me this video review by beauty vlogger Marnie Goldberg about Milani products and I wanted to go out and buy everything! I decided to get the mascara because I needed a new one and I’m so glad I did. I think it’s a great product for the price, it’s not flaky and it’s buildable! If you need a new mascara I’d recommend this one.

5. Hind’s Feet on High Places

This is another recent read, and only a few chapters in, I knew I would come back to this book several times throughout my life. Though it’s an older story, it’s the kind that stands the test of time and is still relatable. I haven’t read a book that encouraged my faith so much in a while, and I’d highly recommend this quick read! Here’s a summary from the back:

“Follow Much-Afraid on her spiritual journey through difficult places with her two companions, Sorrow and Suffering. Learn how Much-Afraid overcomes her tormenting fears as she passes through many dangers and mounts at last to the High Places. There she gains a new name and returns to her valley of service, transformed by her union with the loving Shepherd.”

I hope you guys enjoyed this month’s Friday Favorites!
