Hey friends! I’m back with another fancy food post! If you’ve been around the blog for a bit, you know I love a good cheeseboard. My friend Amy got me a great book called Platters and Boards: Beautiful, Casual Spreads for Every Occasion that has so many ideas for creating cheese boards. I was just waiting for the right occasion, which happened to be my parents visiting this weekend! I decided to make a breakfast cheeseboard because why not?
This was my first cheeseboard where I felt like the composition was just right, and I was pretty proud of it. And as always, cheeseboards look a lot more difficult to make than they really are, you’re really just arranging a bunch of things in a visually appealing way on a platter! Below are the things I put on my cheeseboard. My favorite things on it were an espresso-rubbed cheese, cardamom scones I made from the book, and a yummy apple maple bacon jam I found.

Cheese
Bread
- Rosemary date crisps
- Cardamom scones (similar recipe here, mine was from the Platters & Boards cookbook but I couldn’t find it online)
- French bread
Meat
Fruit
- Grapes
- Apples

I’m no cheeseboard expert, but my tips for assembling them are:
- Have a soft, medium, and hard cheese
- Mix sweet and savory!
- When plating, start with cheese, then any small dishes, meat, bread/crackers, then fruit/nuts/other additions
- Make sure to have a few things that add color! Fruit is great for this
I hope you guys enjoyed my little breakfast cheeseboard and are inspired to make your own lovely platters!
